How to download Santander transactions as CSV or Excel
Updated 4 November 2026 · Rowclean
Santander offers Excel, Quicken, PDF and Microsoft Money downloads, plus a 12-month midata CSV. The catch is a limit of 600 transactions per download, so a busy account needs several files.
Download transactions in Online Banking
- Log in to Online Banking and open Download transactions.
- Choose Microsoft Excel, Quicken, Adobe Acrobat (PDF) or Microsoft Money.
- Choose All available transactions or Since last download.
- If you have more than 600 transactions, split the date range and repeat.
Santander's help pages for this feature are older, so the menus on your screen may look a little different. They also don't say how far back "all available" goes.
Joining several downloads safely
Where two files meet, check that the closing balance of the first matches the opening balance of the second. That's the quickest way to spot a missing or doubled row.
Get a CSV with midata
On the same Download transactions page, midata gives you 12 months of current account history as a CSV file. Santander masks personal data in it, and joint account holders must agree to the download.
Santander PDF statements
- App: Mailbox › Statements and documents, then the download icon.
- Online Banking: Statements and documents, then the print icon.
- How far back: 7 years of account activity.
- Closed accounts: up to 5 years of payment history, which you can request for up to 5 years after closing.
Turning a Santander PDF into CSV
A PDF statement has no 600-row limit. Rowclean reads the whole file in your browser and checks the balance to the penny before you pay.
Rowclean turns it into a CSV in your browser (nothing is uploaded), shows every row with its page and line, and checks the running balance to the penny before you pay. £3 for your first statement, then 99p each, with no signup.

Why does my Santander download stop at 600 transactions?
That's Santander's stated maximum per download. Split the period into smaller date ranges.
Does FreeAgent accept Santander's CSV?
Santander isn't on FreeAgent's list of banks whose CSV it takes directly, so it may need reformatting. See the FreeAgent layout, or Xero, QuickBooks and Sage.
