Amex statement PDF to CSV
Drop the PDF statement American Express gave you. Rowclean reads it in your browser, shows every charge and credit, and checks them against the previous and new balance to the penny. Then you download a CSV for Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent, Sage or Excel.

How the check works for a credit card statement
A credit card statement has no running balance on each line, so Rowclean checks it the way the card company does: previous balance + new charges − payments and refunds = new balance. If the rows it found add up to the new balance printed on the statement, you get the green check. If they don't, it shows the difference and you pay nothing.
What it reads
- Transaction date, description and amount, including rows with two dates (transaction and posting).
- Payments and refunds marked
CR, a minus sign or brackets, which become money in. - Foreign-currency details printed under a transaction, kept in its description.
In the download, charges are money out and payments are money in, so a Xero or QuickBooks credit card account imports them the right way round. The amount you owe shows as a negative balance.
Works with text PDFs downloaded from online card accounts. Scanned or photographed statements are not supported yet.

You see the work before you pay
Three steps, all on your screen.
Date, description, money in, money out, balance, and the page and line it came from. Anything unreadable is marked in red, never guessed.
Opening balance plus money in minus money out must equal the closing balance to the penny. Green if it does, red with the difference if it does not.

Banks print statements differently, so Rowclean has a reader for each one below and tells you which it used. If a statement does not read cleanly, send us its layout and we fix the reader. Credit card statements work too: Amex, Barclaycard and other cards.

Questions
Where does my statement go?
Nowhere. The PDF is read inside your browser, on your computer. Our servers never receive it, so there is no statement to store, leak or train on. What does leave your browser: the payment (handled by Stripe), a small check of your download credits, and, only if you press the button, a masked layout report with letters turned to a and digits to 9.
What if a row is wrong?
You see the extracted rows before paying, each with its page and line in the PDF, and the balance check tells you if the totals do not add up. Anything unreadable is marked in red, not invented.
Which banks work?
Each bank above has its own reader. If your statement does not read cleanly, the page lets you send us the column layout with every letter turned to a and every digit to 9, and we fix the reader.
Scanned statements?
Not yet. A text PDF from online banking in a layout we support works, and the preview shows you before you pay. A photographed or scanned statement is normally detected and refused with a clear message; if one slips through, the balance check will not pass.
New device or cleared browser?
Go to rowclean.com/restore and enter the email you paid with. Your downloads follow you. We look the email up in Stripe; nothing is stored and nothing is emailed.
Refunds?
You check the preview before you pay, so paid downloads are not refunded. If the download fails, or the file is not what the preview showed, email [email protected] within 7 days with your receipt and we will make it right. Unused packs can be refunded within 14 days. Once a credit is used, they cannot.
